9th Grade Overview
Starting off the 9th grade year I was very confident in myself to do very well and exceed the expectations. I was very nervous, it was my first year in high school and was a big transition. I knew that things would be very different and would be more difficult. But overall, I was excited to start the year and become a high school student. I wanted myself to become a very organized person, and do all of my homework, and be the best student that I could have been. Going through the freshman year I began to truly understand myself and what I would actually do. I became a different person then what I thought I would be. Not trying to say that I am unhappy with the person I am now. I just really know who I am and I understand how the 9th grade has shaped me. I was searching for ways to understand math better, and that is where I first came across Mathcounts. Ever since I was introduced, I loved going there. I enjoyed getting that extra math help. I’ve noticed how when I need assistance with something I have gone out looking for help. I’ve received help from friends willing to help me. I’ve talked to my parents extensively. Most importantly I have talked to my teachers. The 9th grade has really helped understand what I do, when in need for some help. Before I would never really ask my teachers for help, I would just roll with what we were doing and independently do the things I was asked to do, rarely asking for help. But now I know how helpful asking people questions is. And how much it has helped me through my 9th grade year. Since August i know how important Inquiry is and how much it helps you. How it can aid you whenever you need help. And how easy it is, at anytime you can just ask a question, and you receive help. Going into the 10th grade, Inquiry will be at my side. Asking questions has become such of a learning tool that I plan to continue using it throughout my following years at STEM, and use it as a helpful learning tool.
At the beginning of the 9th grade, I had a different mindset as I do now. Before, I was not excited about doing the homework, or even doing it at all. There were some things that made me nervous, and that stopped me from doing some things at first. One example was raising my hand in class. Now that I have made it through my 9th grade year I have come to realize, just how different my mindset is. Now, I have motivation to do my homework.
