Portfolio Entry 1

This year I have struggled the most in Algebra. Overall I have never fully understood math, and it has continued to be my worst class. Although I have struggled with it in the past, I am finding ways to overcome those struggles and understand math. My first artifact is level 1 of the grid. Towards the end of level one I became to have difficulties with completing it. It took a lot longer than I thought it would take because it was something that I never learned and was having to do it for a first time. Since it was a completely new thing it took a while to get the hang of. What we had to learn with was, some videos about the quadratic equation. The second thing that I struggled with was the level 3A angry bird activity. Going into it, it seemed easy and like I could do it quickly. But that was only the surface. Digging deeper I discovered how difficult it would actually be and how long it would take me. It was mostly review but in order to get the answers I had to do combinations of equations that I had never thought about putting together. For Level one I was able to get into a program called Math Counts. This allowed me to get some help outside of math class. Going to this club Monday, Tuesday, and Friday I was able to learn the quadratic equation and understand it. It took a while and multiple meetings. But I was able to do it. Looking back at it I can now say that it is easy and I have completely overcame that struggle with the quadratic equation. For 3A, I had to communicate extensively with my partner and talk both inside and outside of school to figure out all of the answers for the worksheet. Although at first glance I thought it would be easy, and how digging deeper I only found that it was a lot harder then I thought. It became easy to me after the first or second bird. With the help of my partner I was soon able to understand how to get the answers.
